Characters limit in SMS:
The limit of single (one) English text SMS is up to 160 characters (including space and special characters), whereas in Unicode (any other language) SMS it is limited to 70 characters only. Every multipart English text SMS is restricted to 153 characters instead of 160 due to the need for user data headers (UDHs) technology. Mobile phones use UDH technology to allow them to link lengthy SMS jointly so that they appear as single SMS in recipient’s phone inbox. Below mentioned chart will explain you better:
